About usNo Voice Unheard is a non-profit, tax exempt 501(c)3 organization founded in 2001 by the authors of One at a Time: A Week in an American Animal Shelter, after commercial publishers told them the book was too "sad" to be marketable.

Despite these negative predictions, One at a Time is now in its fourth printing, resides on hundreds of library shelves, is used by shelters across the country to educate their communities, serves as a college course book, and has touched thousands with its message.

We have since developed into an independent publisher of beautiful and creative books that give animals a unique voice - books that are cutting-edge in their content and presentation, books that illuminate sometimes-difficult issues and are therefore ignored by commercial publishers.

No Voice Unheard is an all-volunteer organization. We have no paid staff, carrying out our work with a small group of dedicated volunteers who come together out of a deep love of and respect for animals, and who believe in the power of committed individuals to create a better world.

Donations to No Voice Unheard are tax deductible
and help to underwrite
book production costs so that proceeds from sales can be devoted to
outreach and education efforts.
